VENIS projectVENIS is an European FP7 research and development project that addreses the interoperability between enterprises by means of a service-based interaction.

The VENIS project is aimed at providing a new level of interoperability between Large and Small Enterprises, according to the Virtual Enterprise paradigm:

  • a distributed web-based repository implemented in order to connect the existing information systems;
  • a set of lightweight web services developed for a smart exchange of the common data based on legacy email systems;
  • the local business processes modelled and linked by a distributed business engine mechanism, in order to assist the work in joint businesses and create novel synergies in marketing competition.

Outcomes of VENIS include the interoperability platform for creation and maintenance of virtual business collaborations, flexible and secure email-based communication and notification infrastructure, distributed repository of shared artifacts that provides advanced searching and retrieval capabilities by means of lightweight sematntics, built-in components for modelling and execution of business processes, as well as open API and adapters enabling to connect various external applications or information resources.
